James Chambers was a coachman at Prospect Hall from 1891 to 1901 living at the back
gatelodge. By 1907 they were living in Bangor and in 1911 at 57 Holborn Avenue, Bangor
and James continued to work as a coachman. They were still living at the same address
and James was working as a church verger in 1921. Maggie died 14 Jan 1933 at 77
Bryansburn Road, Bangor and was buried at Bangor New Cemetery. In 1936 James was
struck by a motor car and was treated for shock and shoulder injuries in hospital.
1 William James Chambers born circa 1889 in Co Dublin. He was a tailor and died at
Glenbank, Princeton Road, Bangor on 16 Apr 1908 and was buried at Bangor New
Cemetery.
2 Eileen Chambers born 6 Nov 1890 at Burdett Avenue, Kingstown baptised at Taney
in 1892. She died unmarried on 13 May 1911 at 57 Holborn Avenue and was buried at
Bangor New Cemetery.
3 Mary (May) Chambers born 25 Aug 1892 at Prospect Hall, baptised at Taney a clerk
living in Bangor in 1911. She was a drapers assistant working at 37 Main Street, Bangor
and married the owner John Thomas (Thomas) Nicholls on 5 Oct 1921 at the Abbey
Church, Bangor. Thomas was the son of Thomas Nicholls, a house painter. May was
the winner of the Homes Industries Cup at the Portadown Show in 1939. Thomas died
in 1971 and May died at Riverside Road in 1977 survived by her daughter, son and
granddaughter.
4 John Chambers born 21 Feb 1894 at Prospect Hall, Dundrum, baptised at Taney. He
was a drapers assistant in 1911. He died unmarried on 26 Mar 1913 at Holborn
Avenue.
5 Annie Chambers born 8 Nov 1896 at Prospect Hall, Dundrum baptised at Taney died
16 Mar 1907 at Glenbank, Bangor.
6 Isabella (Isabel) Chambers born 20 Oct 1897 at Prospect Hall, baptised at Taney was a
regular competitor at the Bangor Flower show in the 1930’s. She died unmarried on
20 Feb 1974 at Riverside Road in Bangor at the residence of her sister May Nicholls. She
was buried at Bangor New Cemetery.
