Edward Statter Carr born 21.09.1828 at Walthamstow, Essex son of George Carr an attorney
from Russia and Sarah White Sweet. Edward was a solicitor and they were living at 16 Edwards
Street, Marylebone in 1861. It appears that Edward and Catherine Wiles only formalised their
relationship after the birth of all their children on 22.06.1872 at the Church of St Clement Danes,
Westminster. Catherinebwas the daughter of Wiliam Wiles. In 1881 they lived at 23 Redcliffe
Gardens, Kensington where Catherine died on 05.10.1888. In 1897 Edward was living with his
daughter Ada in Rockmount in Dundrum. He died on 11.09.1898 at Inniskean, Greystones the
home of his daughter Ada and his son in law William Deverell. He left 98k in personal estate.
1 Edward William Statter Carr born 14.05.1857 at Royal Avenue Terrace baptised at St
Luke’s Chelsea, London. Edward unmarried with the Indian Civil Service in 1901 was
living with Henry Hodding a cousin in Nottinghamshire. Edward a conservator of
forests married Effie Soames 2nd daughter of Joseph and Agnes Soames of 20
Phillimore Gardens on 01.07.1905 at St Mary’s Abbott’s, Kensington. Edward a
widower of 46 Phillimore Gardens, Kensington and Ellesmere, Greystones died on
15.05.1940 aged 83 at Portobello House, Rathmines with an estate worth over £58,000.
Probate to his brother Lawrence.
2 William Joseph Statter Carr 2nd son born 30.12.1860 living with his family in 1881 in
Kensington. William living in Florida but of 23 Redcliffe Gardens married Agnes
Augusta Caroline Bullock eldest daughter of Captain Stanley Bullock formerly of the
Madras Light Cavalry on 21.09.1893 at St Mary’s Abbott’s Kensington, London. William
died on 24.09.1935 in Florida.
3 Frederick Statter Carr born circa 1862 was at Boarding School in Surrey in 1871 and
was living with his brother Lawrence in 1891 in Dartford, Kent. He married Amelia
Caroline Grindley daughter of William Grindley on 20.06.1900 at St Stephen’s Church,
Wandsworth. By 1911 the family were living at Elmers Drive, Paddington. Frederick died
September 1917 Southwark.
4 Ada Kate Statter Carr only daughter born 26.11.1863 Islington. She married William
Deverell eldest son of late Robert G Deverell of Tullamore on 21.01.1892 at St Mary’s
Abbot, Kensington. The family swapped houses with Judge Brereton Barry in 1903 and
the Judge moved to Rockmount in Dundrum. William died on 09.11.1934 aged 73 years
and Ada died on 02.02.1952 both at Ellesmere, Greystones.
5 Lawrence Statter Carr youngest son born circa 1867 in Brompton. Lawrence a civil
engineer married Florence Kate Phillips 2nd daughter of John Henry Phillips of Claremont
Road, Surbiton on 12.04.1899 at St Mary’s Parish Church, Long Ditton, Surrey. Witnesses
John G Scott and Howard Phillips. They lived in Maidenhead in 1911.
