Thomas Calvert born circa 1823 son of James and Ann Calvert. Thomas was a farmer and
married Ellen Jane Gibson at the Methodist Chapel, Ballinahinch, Co Down on 21 Apr 1871.
Ellen Jane was the daughter of Henry Gibson, a farmer. Ellen Jane was an Examiner of Work
in a Linen Warehouse and Thomas had no occupation and lived at Brookland Street in 1901.
Thomas died 18 Jun 1902 at 35 Brookland Street late of Ballyalgin. He was interred at
Killyleagh churchyard, Meeting House Green. Ellen was living in Lisburn Road in 1911. She
left for Canada in 1919 aged 75 with her daughter Sarah and her granddaughter Thomasina.
Ellen died in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 17 Feb 1927 and was buried at Killyleagh.
1 James Calvert born 5 Feb 1872 at Ballyalgin, Co Down. He was a gardener/domestic
servant in 1901. He married Agnes Mulholland on 26 Apr 1901. They were living at the
Lodge, Fernside, Killiney in 1902 and James was probably gardener to William H
Findlater of Fernside whi died in 1906. James was head gardener at Roebuck Hall by 1910
working for Lucas White King. In 1919 James of Rockfield Gardens was elected a practical
member of the Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland. He ran a dairy with his son Thomas.
Agnes died 23 May 1944 aged 71 at Rockfield and was buried at Deansgrange. James died
at Rockfield on 14 Jan 1950 and was buried with his wife.
1 William (Willie) Calvert born 21 Feb 1902 at 44 Brookland Street, Belfast. He was
a clerk and died unmarried on 9 Feb 1928 at Mercers Hospital late of Rockfield.
He was buried at Deansgrange.
2 Thomas (Tommy) Calvert born 30 Dec 1904 at the Lodge, Fernside Killiney. He
worked with his father at Rockfield gardens and dairy. Thomas married Sarah Oliver
on 11 Apr 1934 at the Methodist Church Blackrock. Sarah was living at Blackrock
House and was the daughter of Robert Oliver, a land steward.
3 Ellen Jane (Nellie) Calvert only daughter born 6 Oct 1910 at Roebuck Hall. She
married George Vincent Wallace on 11 Sep 1940 at Blackrock Methodist Church.
George was a druggist and the son of John Wallace, a builder of Cork.
2 Sarah Anne Calvert born 16 Sep 1876 at Ballyalgin, Co Down married Samuel Hamilton on
13 Jul 1904 at the Methodist Church, Belfast. Samuel was a joiner of Jerusalem Street and
the son of Isaac Hamilton, a farmer. They were living with her mother in 1911. In 1919
Sarah, her daughter and her mother travelled to Canada.

3 John Henry Calvert born 14 Jul 1882 at Ballyalgin, Co Down was a joiner in 1901 living with
his parents in 1901.
