William Butler born circa 1817 of Drom Co Tipperary son of Reverend Theobald Butler and Anne
Kearney. His father died in 1836 and he married Catherine Lloyd on 2 Mar 1842. Catherine was
the only daughter of John Lloyd of Lisheen Castle, Co Tipperary and his wife Debora Catherine
Lloyd. They lived at Frescati Lodge from 1859 to 1865. He was a member of the Royal St George’s
Yacht club, Kingstown. William died on 13 Jun 1870 at Lloydsborough, Co Tipperary. Catherine
died 7 Oct 1904 at Friarsland, Co Kildare.
1 Theobald J C Butler eldest son born 8 Jun 1848 at Molesworth Street died at Frescati Lodge
on 29 May 1860.
2 Catherine Amelia Jane (Ella) Butler eldest daughter married Charles Eldon Clarke on
6 Oct 1868 at Monkstown Church. Charles was the son of the late Robert Clarke, JP of
Bansha House, Co Tipperary.
1 Blanche Elia Catherine Clarke died 14 Feb 1949.

3 Cecil Butler Cholmondeley Clarke born 29 May 1874 and died 3 Apr 1924.
3 Charles James Butler (twin) born February 1850 at Fortfield was educated at Sandhurst. He
was gazetted to the Royal Munster Fusiliers (10t Ft) and served in India and on the Burmese
expedition 1885 to 1888 and obtained the medal and clasp. He married Georgina Hanah
Clarke on 5 Jun 1873 at Odagh Parish Church. Georgie was the daughter or Robert Hare
Clarke of Swift’s Heath, Odagh, Kilkenny. He assumed by Royal Licence the addition surname
Kearney in 1876 on the death of James Kearney. They lived in Elm Grove Bandon. Charles
retired with the rank of Lieut Colonel in 1892 and was a DL and Sheriff. They had five children
of whom four survived in 1911. Georgie died 30 Jul 1919 at Threecastles and was buried at
Odagh graveyard in Kilkenny. George moved to England in 1923 and died in July 1933 at
Redlands, Horeham Road, Sussex.

2 Theobald William Butler-Kearney born 15 May 1876 at Swift’s Court was a lieutenant in
the Leinster Regiment and served in South Africa. He was later a registrar on the
Munster circuit and an official in the Department of office of Trials by jury. He married
Hester Louisa Edith Davies-Gilbert on 26 Aug 1914 at St Mary’s Church, Eastbourne.
They were living at Belgrove when their first child was born. Theobald died 2 Jan 1936
at his home on Sandymount Avenue, Dublin survived by his widow and a son and
daughter. He was buried at Deansgrange.

3 Trench Frank Butler-Kearney born 20 Dec 1877 at Elm Grove, Parsonstown
educated at Sandback School. He served with the Leinster and resigned his
commission in 1904. He served with Royal Army Service Corps during WW1 and
died 7 Feb 1954 at Croydon.
4 George Fitzwalter Butler-Kearney youngest son born 15 Dec 1881 at Mount
Prospect in Cork living with his parents in 1911. He died unmarried on 8 Mar 1919
at Graiguenoe Park, Thurles and was buried at Odagh graveyard.
5 Mary Violet Butler-Kearney only daughter born 25 Oct 1884 at Mount Prospect,
Bandon, Cork living with her parents in 1911. She married Captain Mervyn H
Corsellis on 3 Jun 1916. Mervyn was with the Nigerian Political service and the son
of Merrick Shawe Corsellis, JP of Portarlington.
4 Emma Anne Butler (twin) born February 1850 at Fortfield in Co Tipperary living with her mother in
1901 and with her brother at Foulksrath, Coolcraheen, Kilkenny in 1911. She died unmarried on
5 May 1836 at Foulksrath and left 7k in personal estate.
5 Francis (Frank) Bulter born circa 1854 in Co Tipperary living with his mother in 1901 and with his
sister and in 1908 he and sister Emma moved to Foulksrath Castle, Jenkinstown, Kilkenny in 1911.
Francis died late of the 4th RDF at Foulkstown Castle on 21 Mar 1934.
