MacNevin Bradshaw born circa 1825 only son of Robert Scott Bradshaw barrister of Kilclony
and his wife Mary McLean. He spent a lot of his childhood in Paris with his family. He
graduated Trinity College Dublin and took Holy orders in 1852. He married Elizabeth Hall on
30 Jan 1855 at Taney Church, Dundrum. Elizabeth was the eldest daughter of General Henry
Hall of Merville. Margaret Elizabeth died 18 Jul 1885 at Clontarf Rectory. MacNevin was
curate at Booterstown in 1855, Ardamine from 1856 before being appointed curate of St
Andrew’s Dublin in 1859. They returned to Dublin to live with his father in law at Merville. He
was appointed incumbent of Clontarf in 1875. Elizabeth inherited Merville on the death of her
father in 1875 and MacNevin remained listed as the occupant of Merville until 1893. He was a
strong opponent of ritualism in church and an extreme exponent of Evangelism. Elizabeth
died 15 Jul 1885 at Clontarf rectory and was buried at Deansgrange with her younger sister
Annie. MacNevin retired in 1893 and died 31 Jul 1907 at Beechwood, Killiney. He left 15k in
person estate, his daughter Jane his executor. He was buried at Deansgrange.
1 Eliza Margaret (Pearl) Bradshaw born 12 Nov 1855 at Merrion Avenue, Booterstown.
She married John Galloway Garrett at Clontarf Church on 11 Jul 1878. John was a curate
at Clontarf and the son of Rev George Garrett. George was later a missionary in Kandy,
Ceylon. John died 15 Apr 1911 at 12 Hume Street, Dublin aged 57. Administration was
granted to his wife.
2 Henry Hall Bradshaw born circa 1857 emigrated to Boston. He was a mariner and
married Mary Buckley on 27 Apr 1882 at Canton, Massachusetts. Mary was the daughter
of John & Joanna Buckley.
3 Jane Christian Helen Bradshaw second daughter born circa 1858 at Ardamine Glebe, Co
Wexford. She was living in Ely Place Dublin in 1911. She died 24 Jul 1930 late of
Gunterstone Road, London and was buried at St James’, Gerrard’s Cross.
4 Robert MacNevin Bradshaw born 27 May 1861 at Ardamine Glebe, Wexford. He played
rugby for Wanderers in Dublin and captained the club to the 1885 Leinster Senior Cup title.
He got three caps for Ireland in 1885. He served as club president of Wanderers and
founded their clubhouse on South Frederick Street. Robert was living at the Parsonage,
Clontarf and married Agnes Margaret Duncanson from Scotland on 4 Nov 1885 at St Mary’s
Parish Church, Dublin. They were living in Lansdowne Road in 1901 and Robert was a land
agent. Robert died 23 Dec 1907 at Ballinascorney House, Brittas, Co Dublin and was buried
at Deansgrange. Agnes was living at Woodstock Gardens in 1911.

2 George Fagan born 6 Sep 1887 at Gloucester Villa, Antrim Road, Belfast joined the
Royal Navy and retired in 1946. He died unmarried on 27 Oct 1960 in Cornwall.
3 Agnes Helen Bradshaw born circa 1890 in Dublin was a kindergarten mistress living
with her mother in 1911. She was a missionary and died unmarried on 29 Mar 1972
at Severall’s Hospital in Colchester, Essex and left 41k in personal estate.
4 Charlotte May Bradshaw born 14 May 1892 at Lansdowne Road, Dublin living with
her mother in 1911. She died in 1962.
5 Marion Pearl Bradshaw 24 Aug 1895 at Ballinteer Hall, Dundrum living with her
mother in 1911 and died in 1935.
6 Robert Bradshaw born circa 1898. He was living with his parents in 1901.
7 Eleanor Margaret Bradshaw born 30 Dec 1899 living with her mother in 1911.
8 Francis Fitzgerald Bradshaw born 6 Apr 1902 at 59 Lansdowne Road.
5 George Hume Bradshaw born circa 1863 moved to Canada. He married Catherine and
they had at least four children. Kate died after her confinement on 27 Feb 1897 in Canada.
1 Macnevin Bradshaw born 30 Mar 1888 in NSW Canada.
He secondly married Florence Harriett Richards circa 1899 and had at least four further
children.
6 Clare Henrietta Marion Bradshaw born 8 May 1864 at Ardamine Glebe, Co Wexford. She
was a missionary and married Edward C Millard on 24 Jan 1891 at Clontarf Church. Edward
was a missionary at Fou Chou and they had at least five children. They worked alongside
Rev George C Grubb and worked in Ceylon, India and Canada. Clare continued to give talks
about missionary work after the death of her husband in 1900.
7 Anne Matilda Constance Bradshaw born 5 Aug 1866 at Ardamine Glebe, Wexford died
7 Jan 1868 at Merville.
8 Humphrey Lloyd Bradshaw born 18 Oct 1868 at Merville. He married Louisa J Lopdell nee
Hall on 21 Jul 1898 at Dublin Registrar’s Office. Louisa was the daughter of Major John Joseph
Lopdell. Humphry died 24 Sep 1907 in Banbridge, Co Down.
9 Samuel John McClean Bradshaw born at Merville 31 Nov 1870. He was a medical practitioner
and was gazetted into the Dublin Command. He was doctor to the pilots of Dublin Port and
Docks Board. He died 14 Aug 1920 at 2 Queen’s Park, Monkstown. He is remembered in
Ireland's Memorial Record: World War 1: 1914-1918 as he ‘died of a disease contracted on
active service’.
