William Blount born circa 1799 second son of William Blount, MD of Hereford. He married
Eliza Wright on 8 Jan 1821 at St George’s, Bloomsbury. Eliza was the daughter of the late
Thomas Wright of Fitzwalters in Essex. William was of Orleton, Hereford and Orchehill,
Gerarrd’s Cross, Bucks. Eliza died 6 Feb 1826 at Upper Norton Street, Portland Place.
1 William Blount eldest son born circa 1823. He was with the Madras Army and attained
the rank of Major. He married Mary Christina O’Connor on 4 Aug 1859 at Booterstown
RC Church, Co Dublin. Mary was the second daughter of Valentine O’Brien O’Connor
and Monica Errington. They lived at Dargle Cottage, Bray and they were at El Dorado,
Stillorgan from 1873 to 1874. Mary died aged 33 on 24 Mar 1874 at Bournemouth late
of El Dorado, Stillorgan and William died 5 Nov 1894 at 36 Duke Street, St James’ London
late of Orleton Manor, Ludlow and Albany Hall, Ballybrack. He left 3K in personal estate
and probate was to his son John.
1 William Valentine Blount born 28 May 1861 at Kamptee, Nagpore, Jaulnah, India.
He married Annie Ethel Sheil in 1881. Annie was the daughter of James Sheil of
Waterford. Annie died in France on 13 Jul 1906 aged 53. William died 16 Mar 1940.
2 Charlotte Eliza Mary Blount born 22 May 1863 at Vizagapatam, India died
unmarried at Hove on 1 Apr 1918.
3 John Blount born 26 Mar 1865 at Rome. He was educated at St Aloysius School,
Christchurch, Bournemouth. He married Grace Ethel Mackenzie in 1898. They
were living in London with their two daughters in 1901. Grace was a widow by 1911
and died in 1940.
1 John Archibald Blount born 1902 was a stockbroker.
4 Constance Mary Blount born 18 Apr 1866 at Avondale, Co Wicklow died 17 Jun 1872
at Dargle Cottage, Bray.
5 Mary Blount born 6 Sep 1867 at Dargle Cottage Bray, died unmarried at 283 NCR,
Phibsborough on 7 Sep 1941.
6 Edith Margaret Blount born 11 Oct 1868 at Rockfield, Blackrock died unmarried at
367 Howth Road, Raheny on 20 Oct 1961.
7 Henry Blount born 19 Dec 1869 at Dargle Cottage, Bray died same place on
10 Apr 1871.
8 Annie Blount born 30 Jan 1871 at Dargle Cottage, Bray died 27 Jan 1956. Her Nephew
J A Blount of Sussex the informant.
9 Lilian Monica Blount born 27 Jan 1873 at El Dorado, Stillorgan. She married John
George Blackburne in 1897. John was the son of Charles Edward Blackburne and his
wife Mary. They lived at Cappaghmore House, Clondalkin. John attained the rank of
Major with the Sherwood foresters. He was killed in action on 21 Aug 1915. Lilian
died 24 Nov 1932 at Southsea and left 23k in personal estate.
William Secondly married Lady Charlotte Jane St Maur Seymour on 31 Mar 1839 by special licence
at Leamington Spa. Charlotte was the eldest child of Edward St Maur Seymour, 11th Duke of
Somerset. William died 27 Jul 1885, probate to his son Archibald. Charlotte died on 7 Oct 1889
aged 86 and was buried at St James’, Gerrard’s Cross with her husband.
2 Archibald Henry Blount born 25 Jun 1840 in London. He graduated Cambridge College, was
admitted Lincoln’s Inn and was a member of the Junior Athenaeum Club. He died
17 Jun 1907 and left an estate of 94k, 80k of which went to Yale University in Connecticut.
3 Oscar Henry Blount born circa 1841 married Mary Frances Smythe in July 1878. Mary was
the only daughter of Sir Frederick Smythe, Bart of Acton Burnell Park. Oscar died 10 Apr 1933.
4 Constance Susanna Blount born 1845 at Amersham, Buckinghamshire died unmarried on
25 Oct 1919 at Firenze, Toscana, Italy.
