The Reading Room of the National Archives will be closed to the public from Monday, 22 August 2016 through the month of September and until at least Tuesday, 11 October 2016. This is to facilitate the upgrading of lighting and environmental conditions in the Reading Room.
"During this time, our services to the public will be severely curtailed. Due to restricted capacity for accommodating researchers, there will be limited access to archives on an appointment basis only. Our Genealogy Advisory Service will continue to operate between the hours of 10.00 am and 1.30 pm.
There will continue to be access to finding aids and digitised records."
