It is hard to see how Roots Ireland willl survive with the release of the Roman Catholic index with links to the images held by the NLI but to give them credit they are certainly trying. Civic records updated for Sligo.
To see the updated list click here Well that didn't take long did it? Ancestry have just announced that their index is also now available and they are offering the Irish records free for the whole month of March. It will be interesting to see how each collection compares.
Ireland, Catholic Parish Registers, 1655-1915 Kildare Street Library Buildings Closed Sat 5th and Sun 6th March.
"The National Library wishes to notify all users that the Library's Kildare Street buildings (Main Building and 2-3 Kildare Street) will be closed to the public on Saturday 5th March and Sunday 6th March in order to facilitate works to the exterior of the building. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused." An unusual source was recently brought to the attention of the RCB Library staff by professional genealogist Máire Mac Conghail who is a regular user of the Library’s family history resources.
Having consulted the combined register for St Audoen’s parish Dublin comprising baptisms 1837–1917, marriages 1837–1860 and burials 1837–1885 (RCB Library P116/1/4), she discovered an extensive list of names appended at the end of the run of marriages in the volume, appearing under this running title: ‘A list of Persons who renounced the errors of Romanism in St Audoen’s Church and who afterwards subscribed the roll of converts’, covering the period from 6 May 1827 to 31 July 1847 To read the full story |
