Edward Atkinson born circa 1762 married Anne Woolsey by licence in 1782. Edward died
20.05.1830 at Drumcree Cottage, Armagh.
1 John Matthew Atkinson married Martha Orde on 22.08.1818 at St Catherine’s Church,
Dublin.
2 Edward Atkinson born circa 1787 married Mary Orde on 22.09.1818 at St Catherine’s
Church, Dublin. They lived at Carrickbrennan House from 1841. Mary died on
27.09.1854 aged 61 years. Edward erected a memorial stained window for the
consecration of Drumcree Church in 1856. Edward was a director and chairman of the
Royal Bank of Ireland. He died on 26.11.1865 aged 79 years at Carrickbrennan House,
Monkstown and left 50k in personal estate, of which over 3k was left to charitable
institutions. Both Mary and Edward are buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Edward Atkinson, junior only child born 16.07.1819 baptised on 03.11.1819 at St
Catherine’s Church. He was educated at TCD and admitted Kings Inns. He was a
barrister and married Jane Grace Searight at Egremount, Liverpool in 1843. Jane
was the third daughter of the late Beath Searight, a merchant of Liverpool and his
wife Betty Ford. In 1851 Edward purchased Seafield Hall, Donabate, home of
the late Benedict Arthur on 173 acres from the Encumbered Estates Court and
raised prize winning sheep. Edward a director of the Royal Bank of Ireland died on
27.11.1862 at Carrickbrennan House, the residence of his father. The Seafield
estate was put up for sale after his death and purchased by John Hely Hutchinson.
Jane lived at Carrickbrennan until 1880.
1 Mary Atkinson eldest daughter born 12.03.1845 at St Helen's near Kingstown.
She married Lieutenant Herbert Herbert Stepney of the 79th Cameron
Highlanders eldest son of Col St G Herbert Stepney of the Coldstream Guards
on 24.05.1866 at Monkstown Parish Church.
Mary the widow of Captain H Herbert Stepney married secondly, the twice
widowed Hon William Monk Jervis of Quarandon Hall, Derbyshire on
25.04.1882 at St Luke’s, Derby. William a lawyer and noted cricketer died aged
82 on 25.03.1909 at Quarndon. He left all his property, and personal estate of
32k absolutely to his widow to spend as she wished. Mary died 28.12.1930 at
Bournemouth. The couple had no issue.
2 Elizabeth Ford Atkinson born 14.12.1847 at Carrickbrennan died 09.09.1848
at Riverview, Seacombe, the home of her grandmother; Betty Searight.
2 Elizabeth Ford Atkinson born 30.07.1849 at Carrickbrennan. As second daughter
she married Captain Charles Michael Fox of the 34th Regiment son of Edward
Vigor Fox of North Rode, Cheshire on 11.08.1870 at Monkstown Parish Church.
They had at least three children and were living at Eastbrooke House, Pitminster,
Taunton, Somerset in 1901. Elizabeth died 17.05. 1910 and Charles died
19.01.1926. They are buried at St Nicholas' churchyard in Corfe, Somerset.
3 Anne Woolsey Atkinson 3rd daughter born 21.06.1851 at Carrickbrennan. She
married Captain Frederick Southampton L’Estrange Fitzroy son of Rev Frederick
Thomas William Coke Fitzroy on 12.04.1877 at Monkstown Parish Church. They
had at least thee daughters. Anne died a widow at Bradford Peverell, Dorset on
16.02.1927.
4 Jeannie Atkinson youngest daughter born 20.05.1853 at Carrickbrennan. She
married Henry Ernest William Fetherstonhaugh of the 60th Royal Rifles
youngest son of late Rev Sir Thomas Francis Fetherstonhaugh on 17.08.1876
at Monkstown Parish Church. Jennie died on 14.11.1880 aged 27 years at
Lower Baggot Street, Dublin and is buried at Mount Jerome.
3 Henry Francis Atkinson 3rd son born circa 1790 Henry married Louisa Cooper on 16.07.1818
and died on 27.03.1852 at Newcastle, Co Down.
1 Louisa Jane Atkinson youngest daughter married Robert Reynolds of Manorwater
House, Fermanagh on 24.07.1851 at Bryansford.
