Jolley Family of Churchtown
Robert Jolly born circa 1837, dairyman from Newtown Park and son of Christopher Jolley married
Maryanne Sutton, daughter of James Sutton, a farmer at Calary Church, Co Wicklow on 24 Sep 1862.
Maryanne died 11 Jan 1894 age 56 and Robert died 16 Apr 1915 age 78 at Kiltalown and both are
buried at Kilternan.
1 William Valentine Jolley born 11 Feb 1880 married Gertrude (Gerty) Carter, of Northcote
avenue, Kingstown and daughter of James Henry Carter on 4 Jan 1905 at St John’s Church,
Monkstown. They lived at Annavilla avenue, Newtown Park from 1905 to 1912, the house had
two cow sheds, a barn and a dairy. They were in Ferndale, Churchtown from 1927 to 1941 and
Airfield House, Churchtown from 1951 to 1958. William was a dairy proprietor and farmer.
Gerty died at Airfield House on 20 Jun 1958. William died at 39 Ardagh Park, Blackrock the
home of his son Robert on 29 Aug 1969.
1 Mary Beatrice (May) Jolley born 5 Dec 1905 at Newtown Park married William Gillis son
of T Gillis of Butterfield Avenue at Whitechurch on 14 Dec 1927.
2 James Henry (Harry) Jolley born 21 Jul 1907 at Newtown Park. A mechanic of
Churchtown married Kathleen Flood, daughter of William Flood, shopkeeper at St
Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church on 29 Apr 1936.
3 Robert Jolley born 27 Aug 1909 at Newtown Park living at 39 Ardagh Park, Blackrock
in 1969.
4 Gertrude Marguerite Jolley born 20 Mar 1911 at Newtown Park married Percival
Robert Storey, son of John James Storey at Whitechurch on 27 Apr 1937 at Taney Church.
5 William Valentine Jolley born 27 Dec 1912 married Josephine Walker at Taney Church
5 Mar 1942.
6 Florence Jolley born 16 May 1914 at Doyles Lane, Knocklyon married Geoffrey Bridges, a
driver in the RAS Corps of Vernon Avenue, Clontarf and son of Alvin Bridges at Taney
Church on 1 Nov 1941.
7 Frederick Jolley born 26 Sep 1916 at Dargle Lodge, Knocklyon.
8 Samuel Jolly born 2 Jul 1918 at Dargle Lodge, Knocklyon died at Dargle Lodge on
19 Mar 1919.
9 Albert Edward Jolley youngest son born circa 1920.
