Howell family of Ferney
George Howell J P of Howell, Gilpin and Co Army Clothier of 33 Molesworth Street, Simmonscourt
and Ferney married Sabina Donelan in 1814. He was elected a life member of the RDS in 1829.
He was a signatory of the Protestant petition for Catholic emancipation in 1829. George
Howell was a committee member of the Mendicity Institution and a Vice-President of the society
for eliminating the use of climbing boys as chimney sweeps.
Sabina died in 1828 and George married Fanny Hedley 3rd daughter of T Hedley of Newcastle-
upon-Tyne in 1832 at Clapham Church. Fanny died in 1839 at Simmonscourt aged 26 years.
George died in 1844.

2nd tour of service on the African coast on 04.09.1851 aged 32 years.
2 Sabina Howell eldest daughter married Lieut Robert Russell Harris of the 87th Fusiliers
on 02.04.1840 at Dublin.

2 Edmund Henry Harris born circa 1845 died 16.12.1845 aged 10 months.
3 Ada Eliza Harris died 09.09.1852 aged 8 months.
3 Louisa Mary Palmer Howell late of Ferney married William Phipps Boileau 4th son of
George Wilson Boileau of Woodview on 31.07.1854 at St Saviour’s Church, Jersey.
4 Griffith Hedley Howell born circa 1835 married Alice Mary Drake daughter of Francis Drake
of Newcastle, Northumberland on 27.09.1864 at St Saviour’s Church, Jersey. Griffith died
on 08.05.1896 at Ferney, Beaufort Road, Surbiton, Surrey and Alice died on 17.09.1931 at
The Ferns, Chertsey Road, Byfleet, Surrey.
